You are not alone

Being a parent is one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs in the world. Each new stage of a child’s development often brings about fresh challenges for parents to navigate.

Mother and son

Imagine…

  • …having to navigate those challenges when you find it difficult to face each new day because you are emotionally exhausted with a lack of confidence and belief in yourself.
  • …not understanding your child’s behaviour or knowing how best to support them.
  • …the guilt you may be feeling.

Put simply, these are some of the effects that domestic abuse can have on a parent.

Sometimes, all we need is a helping hand to recognise our strengths and to understand how trauma can impact not just ourselves, but our children and parenting style as well.

With the right support and the right tools, parents can and do find the strength to rebuild relationships with their children, which may have been fractured by the abuse they have experienced.

The families we support are proof of this:

“We have all grown in confidence because of the support from NIDAS”

“I have become more confident and happier in myself, now able to make better decisions and choices”

“Incredible, I would not be where I am today without NIDAS’s support”
